Peter Bullivant
Capturing the ephemeral poetry of urban life, artist Peter Bullivant reimagines everyday objects and spaces into nuanced sculptural works that blur the line between art and the ordinary.

My art practice takes the everyday as its point of departure. Through photography, drawing and sculpture I study how the environment is built, how it looks, how it works and the way people interact with it. I look at objects, architecture, street furniture, shop displays, boundaries, architecture and advertisement. I take many photographs and study the subjects for their sculptural qualities, material, line, colour, construction, history, design and practicality.
I re-contextualise the everyday encounters into a Fine Art context, reflecting on artist work, history, architecture and sculpture. I work through ideas in drawing, research, photography, sculpture and found household objects. In creating the sculptures I select elements from the subjects to create the pieces.
I find the ephemeral and overlooked a source of interest. Subjects which if were not captured would be lost. I am playful and work in an unfinished and open-ended nature. I prefer to use materials with a history, salvaged and pre owned. In displaying and installations I work to bring the separate element together. I use found and household materials for display and refer back to the environment and links with architecture, model making and design.
